Recognizing the vibrancy and potentials of children, Wife of the Cross River State Governor, Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu has affirmed that showcasing their diverse talents will promote the ingenuity of the State.
Giving the affirmation while flagging off the 2024 Junior Carnival in Calabar, Bishop Eyoanwan Edet celebrated the creativity and boundless potential of the children.
The Governor's Wife described the Junior Carnival as a testament to "our commitment to nurturing the dreams of our children, while showcasing the rich cultural heritage of our dear Cross River State."
Bishop Eyoanwan Otu stated that Children are the heartbeat and future of the State and should be encouraged and brought out to protect their future, adding that they are the "Heritage of God's Kingdom."
Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Secretary, Cross River State Carnival Commission, Evang. Austin Cobham, called to reminiscence that the Governor's Wife in 2023 has renamed the Children's Carnival to Junior Carnival to accommodate those aged 18-30 years, adding that the Commission towed her path in setting criteria for the 2024 Junior Carnival.
Evang. Cobham who described the Governor's Wife as humanity personified, lauded her special attention to women and children especially the Mma Adiaha Christmas Camp at the Old Residency Museum.
He appreciated sponsors of the events in supporting the shared prosperity and visibility of Cross River State on the world map.
The 2024 Junior Carnival featured Seven competing bands including: Seagull Band, Diamond Band, Passion 4 Band, Masta Blasta, Calas Vegas, Bayside Band and Freedom band
