Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to implementing policies and programs that address the needs of local communities, particularly in areas that will significantly improve the lives of residents.

Represented by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, Governor Otu made this declaration at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Egbe-Mbube, in Ogoja Local Government Area, during a thanksgiving Mass held in honour of the Ogoja Council Chairman, Hon. Christopher Agbeh.

Speaking to the congregation, the Deputy Governor highlighted the Governor’s unwavering commitment to grassroots development, noting that the administration is intentional about extending development to all local government areas of the state. He praised Hon. Agbeh for initiating people-oriented projects, emphasizing that such efforts are in line with Governor Otu’s “People-First” agenda.

He further reminded public office holders to always prioritize the needs of the people whenever they are entrusted with public responsibility. He also urged citizens to continually pray for the Governor and the state, asking God to guide and strengthen the leadership of Cross River.

In his remarks, Hon. Christopher Agbeh expressed gratitude to God, Governor Otu, the Deputy Governor, and the Chief of Staff for their support, which led to his emergence as Council Chairman. He appreciated the support of all stakeholders and party faithful and pledged to remain focused and dedicated to fulfilling his campaign promises.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, in his address, underscored the importance of trust in God, stating, “No one who puts their trust in God fails, for it is only He who gives power.”

Ironbar applauded Agbeh for his achievements within his first six months in office and urged stakeholders and residents to continue supporting the Council Chairman to ensure more democratic dividends for the people.

Also in attendance were the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, represented by his deputy, Hon. Sylvester Agabi, Local Government Chairmen, House of Assembly member for Ogoja, Hon. Thomas Aruku, his Bekwarra counterpart, Hon. Charles Omang, top government officials, traditional rulers and party stakeholders as well as youth and women groups, among other.
