In line with Governor Otu's led administration’s policy of taking governance to those who needs it the most as captured in his people's first mantra, the Cross River State Ministry of Housing has inspected sites for proposed housing estates in the state.
The Honourable Commissioner For Housing, Dr Beatrice Igwe who undertook the site inspection recently alongside her management team shortly after receiving and later accompanied her to sites, the Executive Director Loans and Mortgage Services, Federal Mortgage Bank, Mr. Lukman Mustapha in her office in Calabar, opined that with new the frontier, dream of affordable houses by civil/public servants will soon be a reality
While applauding the bank's efforts towards achieving their set goals in housing sector, Dr Igwe promised to collaborate with the mortgage team to ensure prompt interventions in housing development in the State, stressing that such partnership will also create a platform for off takers of housing policy to benefit.
She admonished all Cooperatives involved in the development of the sites to ensure that only standard materials are use for building with clear signage of all the contracting firms.
Speaking, the Executive Director, Mr. Lukman Mustapha lauded Governor Otu for appointing a passionate and zealous Commissioner to head the Housing sector, describing Dr Iqwe as a workaholic who is eager to deliver on the mandate of her Ministry.
He stated that the bank will partner the State Government to ensure a successful completion of all the projects that have been identified and currently ongoing, attract more project as requested by the Governor in order to reduce the housing deficit in Cross River State and the Nation by implication.
However, while on inspection, Lukman observed some sharp practices by an expertise on sites visited and immediately reprimanded the developers to map out strategies to correct anomaly as soon as possible .
Also present during the sites inspection were Honourable Stanley Nsemo, Member representing Calabar Municipality and Chairman House Committee on Lands and Housing and Mr. Eno Obongha, Managing Director CROSPIL.
