Cross River Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Chief Victor-Felix Idem has commended Heads of Local Government Administrations (HOLGAs) in the State for their commitment and effective service delivery in their councils.
The commissioner who made the commendation, Thursday, during a meeting with HOLGAs across the state, held at the Ministry's Conference Hall in Calabar, however, charged a few of them lagging behind to work harder.
Commissioner Idem revealed that Governor Bassey Otu, in order to cushion the effects of the present economic situation characterised by the high cost of living, has approved the establishment of desk officers in the 18 Local Government Councils who will liase with the Ministry of Wealth Creation to offer appointments, give grants, award scholarship and train indigenes to acquire skills to better their lives.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Cross River HOLGAs, Mr Ekpenyong Esuabangha appreciated the Governor and the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs for taking the affairs of the State and Local Government to greater heights as well as the kind gesture of availing them the opportunity to expand their administrative scope through training and retraining.
