The Cross River Newspaper Corporation, publishers of the Nigerian and Weekend Chronicle, would soon breath a new lease of life as the State Ministry of Information has officially closed its competitive open bidding for the Corporation's maintenance.
Closing of the bidding submission anchored by the ministry’s procurement officer, Mr Magnus Isaac Isogon, was officially declared closed by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Offiong Ani Offiong, at the ministry headquarters in Calabar, 12 noon of Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
Offiong, in her remarks thanked the eligible contractors for coming out in their numbers to apply as professonals as well as displaying their love for the growth of the state through the submission of bidding.
“I really appreciate the effort so far in carrying out this process seamlessly, as well as applaud everyone involved in the exercise including contractors that have tendered their proposals to work towards the growth of the state,” the Ministry's Permanent Secretary said.
On his part, the Procurement Officer, Magnus Isogon explained that having officially closed the submission of bids, any other bid sent afterwards, would be returned to the contractors without opening.
“I will like us to note that as from today we will not be collecting more submissions as all submitted bids after the official closing will be returned back to the contractors without opening,”
Isogon disclosed.
It would be recalled that the EndSars protest of October 23/24, 2020 resulted to complete destruction almost reducing the Corporation to its foundation as the offices, furniture, library and staff documents were burnt down by hoodlums hiding under the said protest.
