In a groundbreaking development, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted Cross River State a license to establish the Cross River University of Education and Entrepreneurship.
This milestone marks a significant step towards transforming the education sector in the State.
At the official recognition ceremony held at the National University Commission (NUC)headquarters in Abuja, Executive Secretary Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu emphasized the Commission's commitment to upholding standards across all universities in Nigeria.
With this license, the University of Education and Entrepreneurship becomes the 67th States University and 279th University in Nigeria.
Governor Bassey Otu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Owan Enoh, expressed the State's readiness to redefine education in Nigeria with focus on entrepreneurial development.
According to him, the focus will be on producing graduates who are job creators and entrepreneurs, rather than job seekers.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey confirmed that funds are in place for the takeoff of the institution, and work will commence soon.
This development is a testament to the State's commitment to investing in education and empowering future generations for a sustainable livelihood.
