Cross River State Youth Artisan Mining Association has paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Youths Development Barr. Odum-Ijom Ukam in his office at Michael Ani Secretariat Complex, Calabar with a call for a closed working relationship.
President of the Association, Alhaji Ibrahim Abba who led the Youths body on the visit said its cardinal objective is to maintain a harmonious and cordial relationship among artisan miners and investors in the industry.
The visit according to the president was to fraternize and get the Commissioner informed as the administrator of the Ministry that provides the major workforce in the mining industry of their activities as well as seek possible ways of partnering with the State for mutual benefits.
Abba noted that one of the major objectives of the association is to monitor the activities of the artisan miners and investors in the industry in order to check mate their activities in ensuring that they operate in line with stipulated guidelines.
The legal adviser of the Association Chief Egbala Edom who lent his voice corroborated Alhaji Ibrahim Abba noting that the association is poised to maintain a harmonious relationship between the industry players and government to enhance the needed economic gains.
The Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. Odum-Ijom Ukam who expressed delight over the visit admonishing them on the need to acquire needed operation licenses and maintaining professional conduct in the course of their mining activities in the state.
Barr. Ukam assured them that the administration of Prince Bassey Edet Otu is an investors, friendly government that has done so much and still not relenting in making sure that the state becomes investments haven for existing and prospective investors.
He copiously implored the Association to keep to the state norm of maintaining the noble principle of local content in both their administration and the technical running of the industry.
The visit underscores the immutable importance of the youths and her Ministry as the lubricant for the economic well-being of any state or country.
The delegation comprises some eminent professionals and personalities including; Bashir Aliu, General Secretary, Mr. Mike Moko, Director of Finance, Mr Tony Darlington Ugbe, PRO/Local Government Representative and Chief (Barr.) Egbala Edom, the Legal Adviser and other officials.
