The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Elvert Ayambem has congratulated Governor Bassey Otu on his recent victory at the Appeal Court.
Ayambem expressed gratitude to God that the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos on Wednesday, November 22, upheld the rulling of the Election Petition Tribunal which earlier declared Otu winner of the March 16 governorship election.
The Speaker who was speaking to journalists in the Assembly's Complex commended the Judiciary as the hope of the common man.
"The Appeal Court has once again affirmed that it is the hope of the common man.. Am glad that the judgment has come forth, even if they drag the Governor to the Supreme court, am pretty sure that he will still win. I thank God for standing with Governor Otu because he means well for the state."
Ayambem further advised members of the opposition party (PDP) to join hands with the ruling party (APC) to move the State forward.
" I see all this as a distraction, let's end all of this, let's come together and build Cross River State. Let's work for the common interest of our dear State"
