The Cross River Government has expressed its desire to partner with a private firm, Cenuel Event & Management in the development and promotion of Southern Senatorial District Festival to enhance unity and cooperation among the residents.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to him in his office, in Calabar, recently the Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Cross River State Planning Commission, Dr. Bong Duke thanked the group for the initiative, stating that the concept and design as proposed by them can be institutionalized through the State Planning Commission.
He assured that their proposal will be sent to the tourism cluster to carry further deliberation and analysis for implementation.
According to Duke, it is in the interest of the Government to enthron a vehicle that will promote Unity as well as foster the development of the Southern people of the State by using festival as value addition to the State's tourism drive.
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer CENUEL Events and Entertainment, Mr. Ekeng-Ewa Emmanuel Okon said their firm has been in existence for over 4 years and their desire is for the enlistment of southern festival in the events calendar of the State.
He expressed satisfaction on the reception accorded them by the Vice Chairman, adding that, they see the present administration as people's centered with a listening ear and expressed their readiness to support it success.
According to Mr Okon, the Cross River Central and Northern districts have festivals that are in the State's events calendar, maintaining that it is necessary for the southern district to showcase and promote festivals that are indigenous to them as a way of stimulating potential of the people in many aspects mostly the youths.
Mr. Okon further disclosed that the group are into Youths' training and development in many fields. Others who were in the team during the visit were, the Human Resource Officer Mr Samuel Boco and Miss. Rebecca Okon Asuquo.
