Sen. Prince Bassey Otu has lauded the development initiative of the Youths Development Ministry under the headship Barr. Ijom Ukam.
The Governor represented by the Speaker CRSHA Mr Elverts Ayambem commended Skyrun International Nigeria, makers of Home Appliances FTZ for its exemplary community social responsibility thrust.
According to him, "In a world constantly evolving with technological advancements and shifting economic landscapes, the need for a skilled workforce has never been more crucial.
"Recognizing this imperative, we have embarked on a journey to establish a state-of-the-art skills programme dedicated to equipping the youths in Cross River with the tools, knowledge, and expertise needed to thrive in the 21st-century workforce."
The Governor opined that the induction of the trainers into the Skyrun Training System is an attestation that the adoption of the development partnership under the formal apprenticeship model is a positive approach to enhancing the youths' programme.
The Commissioner for Youth Development Barr. Ijom Ukam in his welcome speech said that the project is established to focus on the holistic development of youths through the 3Es- i.e Education
Employment and Employment through well designed development strategies and programmes by the ministry.
He added that his Ministry has an agenda to "skill and upskill" the youths in various productive skills and starting with the skill to enterprise campaign tagged:"SKILLS. IN THE HANDS".
Barr. Ukam informed the audience that the initiative will advance government 's interest in the area of its vision for skills development and employment for the youths.
In his address Mr. Guo Nan Nan, the General Manager of Skyrun International [Nigeria], Home Appliances FTZ, assured the interns of deepening the programmes toward the award of internationally recognised certificates at the end of the six month period.
Mr. Nan assured that at Skyrun International skills acquisition transcends mere education and that it embodies a commitment to fostering talent, unlocking potential, and catalyzing opportunities for personal and professional growth.
"Through a dynamic blend of hands-on training, cutting-edge curriculum, and industry partnerships, we aim to empower individuals of all backgrounds to pursue their passions, realize their aspirations, and contribute meaningfully to society," the GM added.
He promised the 23-man trainees of further training in China based on credible performance.
Various dignitaries attended the epoch occasion which included the Speaker CRSHA, Mr. Elverts Ayambem, who represented the governor, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu; Hon. Mercy Akpama [APC Yakurr II] and Chairman, Committee on Sports and Youth, Development, Hon. Brian Odey [LP Yala 1], the Commissioner Sports Development, Hon.Agnes Atsu, Barr. Akiba Ekpenyong, SA General Duties.
Others include Dr. Solo Edebiri, Offiong Ikpeme.
All in their goodwill messages advised the interns to be good ambassadors of the state and to be open to broad knowledge acquisition toward advancing themselves and the state in general.
In a closing remarks the permanent Secretary, Mr. Sam Egbala opined that "our vision extends beyond the confines of our walls. We aspire to be a catalyst for positive change, driving innovation, economic prosperity, and social mobility within our community and beyond. By nurturing a culture of lifelong learning, adaptability, and collaboration.
"We seek to create a ripple effect of impact that extends far beyond the confines of our immediate surroundings, he added.
The PS thanked the governor for the unwavering support, adding, 'here's to a future filled with endless possibilities and we are glad this happened in our time."
