Cross River Commissioner for Information, Mr. Erasmus Ekpang has sued for synergy between his Ministry and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations(NIPR).
Ekpang who made the call he visited President & Chairman of Council and other members of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations(NIPR), Abuja, said the public relations is key in the development and positive re-engineering of any society.
According to him “As part of his renewed hope agenda, Governor Bassey Otu is rebranding Cross River State and reinstating it as one of Nigeria’s foremost states in safety, tourism and entertainment. Public Relations will therefore play a vital role in achieving these.”
Describing Prince Otu’s administration as people centered, the Commissioner said the State is hosting 30 days of festivities, including the famous Calabar Carnival which will not only position Cross River as an entertainment hub but also boost the State’s economy.
“We are prepared to host people from all over the world and we are positive that the robust calendar of Carnival Calabar & festival will
promote Small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) and generate revenue,” he emphasized.
In his remarks, the President and Chairman of Governing Council, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for extending a hand of fellowship to the Institute.
“We really appreciate people like you who understand the value of our profession. You alluded to the fact that everybody wants to do information dissemination but not everyone is qualified to do so.
“The challenge has always been insisting on doing the right thing and the quality of work. It is when it comes to the art and science of strategy communications that you are able to separate the seed from the chaff,” the President pointed. .
Neliaku assured him of the Institute’s readiness to partner the Ministry of Information and promote Cross River State.
“On behalf of Council and members of the Institute, I congratulate you on your appointment as Commissioner for Information, be assured of our support.
“One of the ways we support our colleagues who are in government or leadership positions is that we buy over their projects as though it is our own. Wherever we go, we speak for them; because you are a part of us, by extension Cross River State has become a product for NIPR to sell, because if you excel, the Institute is excelling,” he added.
He further appealed to the Commissioner to support the Cross River State Chapter of the NIPR in order to foster the growth of the profession and Institute.
