Cross River State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Chief Felix Idem, has advised youths in the State to invest their youthful energies on positive and profitable ventures that would engender their development and launch them into entrepreneurship and self-reliance rather than depend solely on others and government for survival.
The Commissioner gave the counsel during an interface with a emerging music group called Ago Music Worldwide which paid him a courtesy call recently in his in Calabar.
Chief Idem reasoned: "the potential in music which can be used in mobilizing the people towards intended goals, will be worthwhile if our indigenous artistes in the entertainment industry can explore the option of using their craft to disseminate information about the implementation of government policies and programmes in the State, and not only talk about profanity and materialism."
He applauded the musician and several other self reliance youths in the State for their creativity and entrepreneurial advancement, describing willpower as a motivational force and a wake-up call for youths in Cross River and the nation at large to embrace gainful ventures.
Earlier, the leader of the Band, Ago Kings, lauded Governor Bassey Otu for his interest in the entertainment industry in the state and his inclusion of music concerts in the programmes of activities in the forthcoming 2023 Calabar Festival and Carnival Calabar, themed: "Season of Sweetness," noting that the globally-acclaimed fiesta will also avail them the opportunity to showcase their talent and be useful to the society.
He solicited for assistance from the state government to enable him actualize his dream which may serve as an inspiration to other youths to hone their God’s given talents and become self-reliant and completely independent of others.
